Community-Based "Big" Volunteer:

A "Big" will be matched with a "Little" to enjoy activities in the community for 4 to 6 hours a month. ALL volunteers must pass a screening process, which includes an interview with BBBS staff, 3 references, a state background check, a national background check, Department of Motor Vehicle check, proof of insurance, and a sex offender check. A 1 year commitment is required. Training will be given at the Match Meeting and throughout the volunteer's involvement with the agency and its mentoring program.

School-Based "Big" Volunteer:

"Bigs" meet their "Littles" for 1 hour a week, at the Little's elementary or middle school. The hour is filled with lunch and fun activities. Volunteers must complete an application and pass a screening process, which includes an interview with BBBS staff, 3 references, a Department of Motor Vehicle check, proof of insurance, a national background check, a Department of Public Safety state background check , a sex offender check, and an FBI fingerprint check. Screening fees are paid for by Big Brothers Big Sisters. A commitment for 1 school year is required.
